What the Media is Saying About McCain

By Editor

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that McCain’s trip to Baghdad dominated much of the news this week. While some journalists have sniped McCain for his comments that some things are improving in and around Baghdad’s capital, others are supporting and defending him: namely General Petraeus. From the Hot Air story comes a money quote:

What it did prove is that, 40 years later, McCain is still willing to put himself at personal risk to help the American war effort. We dump on him a lot here for vacillating politically, but one thing that has remained admirably constant is his courage.

Also, many people are bamboozled yet again by Drudge headlines (ICYMI: Matt is having a tough news week himself). Here’s the pertinent point:

So – who sold Matt Drudge on such a big fat nothingburger of a story, that just happened to revive concerns about McCain’s health when he was on a plane on his way back from Iraq and unable to respond directly?

I am told that the “big three” television networks all deluged the McCain camp with inquiries about this story, with little or no skepticism…

All in all, McCain actually had pretty good week. But what if it had been a bad week? Would he be BLAMING BLOGGERS for his situation? I think not.
